The deaths raise the total number of those who have succumbed to the virus to 28 in the county. One of the individu als was between the age of 50-64 and was a resident of Three Riv ers Rehabilitation. The other was over 65 years of age, and was not re lated to any facility out break. Overall, Bertie Coun ty has experienced 1,055 cases of COVlD-19 since the worldwide pandemic began. There are still 138 active cas es in the county as of Tuesday afternoon. Also on Tuesday, N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper held a press conference to discuss the distribu tion of the two vaccines approved by the USDA, and to urge North Caro linians to continue to follow protocols. He said though the vac cines are a light at the end of the tunnel, their effect was still some See COVID-19, 3 BCC receive 'dig' report THADD WHITE Bertie Ledger-Advance WINDSOR - The First Colony Foundation be lieves it has found ar tifacts in its latest digs in Bertie County that could be associated with the Roanoke Colo nists. Nicholas Luccketti, the principal investiga tor, appeared before the Bertie County Board of Commissioners Dec. 7 to give a report on the latest dig on the site the county owns, which is referred to as Site Y by the Foundation, but is commonly referred to as the Tall Glass of Water site.
